Safety First- Keep your pet safe. Millions of dogs get lost each year. Make sure they have proper identification whether it is a collar tag, micro chip or tattoo. Doggie proof your home. Put away anything that could injure your curious canine. Keep electrical cords out of sight and harmful cleaning supplies out of reach. Check those toys. Are they safe and durable? Keep an eye out for small objects that can be swallowed or sharp edges that can cause serious injury. Caution: Medication meant for humans can have adverse effects on pets. Remember to always keep the doc’s number handy. Your pet’s veterinarian can provide appropriate remedies and tips on care for your pet.

Skip the Scraps- Dogs that eat too much people food can get obese - not to mention intestinal problems. Be cautious of toxic foods, these can cause health issues and can sometimes be fatal. Avoid: Onions, Chocolate, Grapes, Raisins, Avocados, Mushrooms, Citrus Oils, Macadamias, Persimmons, Fake Fats and Artificial Sweeteners.

Banish Parasites- Fleas, ticks, tapeworm, mites and other little critters can make your dog uncomfortable, and more importantly, can carry disease, and in some pets cause allergies. The three important steps to avoiding a problem:
1.
Be proactive to prevent parasites. A clean, healthy pet is less likely to be susceptible to parasites. If your pet is old, ill, or has open sores, he or she is far more likely to catch some form of hitch hiking critter. Topical treatments are available to help defend against infestation.
Our all natural flea and tick shampoo and conditioning mist, Hillbilly Silly, is an excellent aide in the prevention of parasites.
2.
Removal of pests before they gain a foothold is crucial. Regular inspection is beneficial. Always inspect your pets carefully after extended periods outdoors. Be extra attentive after hikes through woods or tall grass.
3.
Finally, better safe than sorry. If you are unsure as to what is causing a change in your pet, or you see something suspicious and would like to know what it is, a veterinary health professional is your best bet.

Maintain Friendly Flora- There are a variety of causes that can throw your pets digestive track out of whack, including: poor diet, pollution, and stress. Perhaps the greatest and most common cause is the use of antibiotics while combating some form of infection. These elements cause the pathogenic bacteria (bad bacteria) to thrive. To sustain a healthy digestive system, direct-fed microbial supplements can be used. These contain naturally occurring bacteria (probiotics) in a stabilized form. When given as directed, these supplements help replenish the gut with beneficial bacteria.
•
Brush Often – Good dental hygiene can prevent gum disease, tooth loss and bad breath. See the vet for routine cleanings. Satisfy your pet's instincts by providing a safe chew toy. Chewing will help keep tartar away, and may decrease barking and reduce stress. Having strong healthy teeth can lengthen their lives.
